ALPHABET ACTIVITY · CLASS 15 · AGE 3

Letter M — Moon.

A green crescent moon glows for the letter M. M is the humming letter — mmm — and the moon is the quietest, coziest word in the set.

THE CARD — DRAW RIGHT ON IT

Trace M m, circle the moon.

This is M’s own card from the class. Pick a crayon, then trace the big letter and the little letter right on the card with your finger, a stylus or the mouse — and circle moon. Press Save my work when you are proud: your drawing stays here for next time.

THE LETTER SOUND

What does M say?

Letter and picture association card: M m with a green crescent moon
ASSOCIATION CARDM m — Moon

“m — mmm, a humming sound”

M says mmm — the only sound you can hum with your mouth closed. Say mmmm while patting your tummy like you just ate something wonderful.

TAKE IT OFF SCREEN

Moon light.

Two minutes is plenty. Follow your child’s lead and stop while it is still fun — that is the whole method.

  1. 01

Turn off the lamp for one minute and pretend to be moonlight drifting around the room, humming mmmm.

  2. 02

Find three white or round things in the dark and name them.

  3. 03

Turn the light back on with a big mmm-ON!
