Animals and Seasons Worksheet for Ages 4–5
A animals-and-seasons worksheet for ages 4–5: match each animal to its season, circle the hibernating bear, sort the animal cards and trace the word ANIMAL. Print it for a quiet table session.
The full sheet, exactly as the artist drew it.
See the whole sheet, download the original file or print it from your browser. Want your child to solve it on screen first? The interactive version lives at preschool/4-years/weather-seasons-and-what-we-wear/worksheets/animals-and-seasons/ / — same sheet, drawing layer included.

The five steps on the sheet.
- 1
Match
Draw a line from each animal to the season where it belongs.
- 2
Circle
One animal sleeps all winter — find it and circle it.
- 3
Sort
Put each animal card into the right season group.
- 4
Trace
Trace the big dotted word ANIMAL, then write it yourself.
- 5
Draw
Draw one animal in its seasonal home in the last box.
Before you start, have the words ready: The four season names, and one familiar animal for each — a spring bird, a summer butterfly, an autumn squirrel, a winter bear.
What this worksheet teaches.
Seasons change what animals do — eating, sleeping, travelling and hiding all follow the weather.
Linking animals to seasons builds the idea that living things respond to the world, not just to us — early science thinking on paper.
- Season vocabulary
- Animal names and habitats
- Sorting and matching
- Early science reasoning
- Word tracing
Tips, questions and practice.
Say before you start: Every animal has a favourite kind of weather. Let us find out who likes which season.
Questions to ask: Where does the bear go in winter? Which of these animals have you seen for real — and in which season?
Parent tips: One sheet, one sitting. If the tracing stalls, do the matching first and come back to the word.
Home practice: On the next walk or park trip, spot one real animal and name its season together.
