Hedgehog Flashcard for Toddlers
The hedgehog — a pincushion with legs, out at night snuffling for slugs. Most toddlers meet hedgehogs in stories first, which is fitting: a storybook animal with a real prickly personality.
What this card plants
Explains the prickly night wanderer most children meet in books first.
Meet one for real
Check the lawn at dusk from the window — hedgehogs keep late hours.
What kids learn from it
Practises the no-touch rule with a creature that clearly agrees.
How to print it
Print a spare — this one gets asked for at bedtime.
Grown-up tip
Spines are protection, not rudeness — say so, twice if needed.
