FLASHCARD SET · AGES 3–5 YEARS

Music Room flashcards.

Fifty-three cards from the school’s Music Room: every instrument on the shelf, the words music uses — beat, melody, tempo, volume — and the people who fill the room with sound. Every card carries its picture word, a sound to make together and one tiny game — the whole room, ready to print.

THE CARDS

Every card in the set.

Each card has its own page: the picture and short, practical notes for grown-ups — what it is for, how to use it, how to print it. Tap any card to open it.

HOW TO USE THESE CARDS

Four ways that work.

You do not need a plan or a printer schedule. Pick one idea, try it for two minutes and see what happens.

  1. 01

    March to the beat

Tap a steady beat on a pot, a box or your knees and march around the room exactly on it. Slow the beat down, speed it up — the tempo card is the boss and legs love a rule they can hear.

  2. 02

    Play loud and quiet

Sing one song two ways: as loud as the volume card allows, then as quietly as a whisper. Loud and quiet is the first music contrast children own — and it tidies a noisy room better than any request.

  3. 03

    Hunt the instruments

Play one favourite song and hunt for the instruments you can hear — a drum, a piano, a bell. Then find those cards in the set and lay them on the floor in the order you heard them.

  4. 04

    Start a kitchen band

Pot-lid cymbals, rice-in-a-jar maracas, a shoebox guitar: match your homemade band to the real cards and play one song together. The people cards — band, duet, solo — decide who plays when.
