Chorus Flashcard for Preschoolers

A chorus — many voices singing the same song at the same time. One voice is nice; a whole chorus of voices together is weather. This card is the sound of a room full of people deciding to be one instrument.

Who is this?

A chorus is a group of singers performing together — a school choir, a carload of relatives, a whole hall at a wedding. The word also names the repeated bit of a song everyone joins.

What do they do?

They turn a song into an event. Choruses sing in unison or in harmony parts, and their job is the same either way: make the room feel bigger than it is.

Why it helps a preschooler

Singing in a group gives the safest possible belonging: your voice disappears into the big sound, so shy singers join first and find confidence second. Group singing is a legal joy amplifier.

Say it together

“Everybody now — a chorus is ALL of us singing! Many voices, one song, twice the joy.”

Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.

Try this

Be a two-person chorus: sing any song you both know, together, at the same time. Then add the whole family at dinner — the chorus grows one person per meal until the neighbours join.

Quick parent note

Chorus is also the repeaty bit of a pop song — the part everybody already knows. Point it out in a car song: “HERE comes the chorus!” and watch everyone suddenly participate.
