Bench Flashcard for Preschoolers
A bench — where the playground sits down. Snack base, shoe-change station, pirate ship, shop counter: the humble bench holds more games than anything bolted down.

What is this?
A bench is a long seat with legs, built for more than one bottom at a time. This one is painted red, yellow and green — the playground’s own rainbow.
What is it like on the playground?
Benches are the quiet furniture: the meeting spot, the watch-the-big-kids spot, the “my legs need a minute” spot. Every playground story has a bench in it somewhere.
Why it helps a preschooler
A bench teaches rest as part of play — stop when the body asks, watch the game, go back when ready. Children who can sit and watch are learning the game twice: once with legs, once with eyes.
Say it together
“The bench is waiting — sit, snack, chat, go again. It is the playground’s kitchen table with the best view.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Bench games: shopkeeper behind the counter, bus driver on the route, audience for the show. One bench, three careers.
Quick parent note
Benches are also where the best grown-up conversations happen. Sit at their level — the chat goes longer and stranger.
