Two — a step-by-step lesson for grown-up and child
Five minutes, one card: say “two” clearly, use it in a real sentence (“I have two hands.”) and finish with one small game.

What it means
It means a pair of things.
How to teach it
- Hold up the card and read “two” slowly, sliding a finger under it. Point out its shape: a t, a silent w and an o.
- On the drawing canvas, let your child trace over the word with a finger or the pencil, then circle any letter they already know.
- Play the game below, say “two” one last time and stop while it is still fun.
How to say it
Say too, like to and too. The w is silent.
Where to use it
Say it in a real sentence: “I have two hands.” Then try “Two birds sat.” Where to spot it: pairs, such as two shoes, two eyes and two hands.
Try this game
Hold up two fingers and say two. Find two shoes, two socks and two eyes.
Understanding check
Ask your child to show “two” with fingers or objects, then to read the card without help.
Parent tips
Keep it to five minutes, and add “two” to the card pile only when the words your child already knows feel easy.
This lesson pairs with the Two flashcard in the library — print it, show it, keep it on the fridge. Back to Sight Words (Class 29).
