The gray bin with the green lid — the trash bin is where the wrappers and peels go, and it has the best doorbell in the kitchen: step on the pedal, the lid opens, in it goes.

Say it together

“Trash bin! The wrapper goes in the bin. Step on the pedal… the lid opens… in it goes — whoosh! All tidy. The bin keeps our kitchen clean.”

Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.

Try this

Make your child the bin chief for a day: every wrapper, every peel, every scrap goes in by THEIR pedal-and-toss. Then hand them the kitchen’s easiest real chore — emptying the little scraps bowl after dinner. Pedal, toss, close. Two-year-olds can do it; five-year-olds do it without being asked.

Quick parent note

A named bin gives mess a destination, which halves the "where does this go?" questions. The pedal is also perfect for toddlers — it works by foot, so hands stay clean and the lid-opening feels like magic. Small bin jobs grow into real tidy habits.
