Stage Microphone Flashcard for Preschoolers
The stage microphone — yellow handle, black grille, switch on the side: the mic that lives on concert stands. This is the grown-up brother of the smiling card, and it means the show is about to start.

What is this instrument?
Stage microphones are handheld mics with a switch and a wind grille — the ball of mesh that keeps breath pops out of the sound. Singers hold them close and let the speakers do the shouting.
What does it do?
The show-starting sound: a finger-tap test, a count of three, then the first note, bigger than life. Stage mics also travel — singers swing them, lean on stands and take them worldwide.
Why it helps a preschooler
Two microphone cards is a sneaky matching game: same word, different pictures. Same word for two things happens all the time in real life — and spotting it is real reading work.
Say it together
“One-two, one-two! Tapping the mic gently and saying one-two is how every show begins — testing, testing!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Compare the two microphone cards side by side: what is the same, what is different? Then stage a show — one mic for the singer, one for the announcer, and one-two-one-two to open.
Quick parent note
Real stage mics are almost always black; the yellow handle makes this one findable in a toy box. If your child announces the dinner menu tonight, the card has done a full show.
