Queen Flashcard — Letter Q for Preschoolers
Qq beside a smiling queen — on this card q sounds like “kw”, two sounds in one letter, and the queen is the picture every preschooler already knows how to bow to.

How this card helps
Qq beside the queen teaches English’s only two-sound letter — /kw/ — and the crowned queen gives the sound a face children already respect.
How to use this card
Royal decrees: wear an imaginary crown, wave a sceptre and declare k-words royal — “Henceforth: queen! quick! quilt!”. Bow after each decree.
What kids learn from it
That Qq carries two sounds glued together, /k/ plus /w/ — and that q always brings its friend u, a spelling fact that explains nearly every q-word.
Print it like this
Print landscape on A4 or Letter at 100% — the Qq card keeps its full 2000×1414 frame, and the crown and gown print beautifully in colour.
How to teach with this card
Say /kw/ as one burst, not two separate sounds — “kwuh-een” fast becomes queen; slow, it falls apart.
Letter sound
Q makes the /kw/ sound — a /k/ click followed instantly by /w/: queen, quick, quiet, quilt.
