Hide Flashcard for Preschoolers
Hide — the word that starts a thousand giggles. Behind the panel, under the slide, inside the tunnel: hide is the half of hide-and-seek that children love best. Finding comes later.

What does this word mean?
Hide means putting yourself where nobody can see you. A good hiding spot needs a think first: what blocks my friend’s eyes from here?
How do you do it?
Pick a spot, fold yourself into it and stay quiet while the seeker counts. The counting voice is the clock — when it stops, the seeking begins.
Why it helps a preschooler
Hiding is a perspective puzzle — children work out what another person can and cannot see. That skill has a grown-up name and a toddler name: peek-a-boo, level three.
Say it together
“One, two, three… where ARE you? Hide means quiet feet and a held breath and a grin you hope nobody sees.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Hide a toy instead of a person first. Hide it badly on purpose — a tail sticking out — and let your child gloat. Then let them hide it for you.
Quick parent note
Some children hide and then worry when nobody finds them fast. Agree on a comeback whistle or word before the game starts.
