Kick Flashcard for Preschoolers
Kick — one swing of the leg and the ball goes flying. This card is for the smallest strikers: the ones who run at the ball, connect with a satisfying THUMP and chase it laughing.

What does this word mean?
Kick means hitting something with your foot to make it move. The standing foot points where you want the ball to go — the body aims before the kick fires.
How do you do it?
Put the ball still on the ground, stand close, plant the non-kicking foot beside it and swing. A slow kick that connects beats a mighty kick that finds air.
Why it helps a preschooler
Kicking asks one leg to balance while the other works — that is a whole-body conversation. It also makes the ball obey: kick left, ball goes left. Cause and effect with a score line.
Say it together
“Plant your foot next to the ball, swing the other one — WHACK! Kick means one leg says hello to the ball, hard.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Kick a balloon first — it hangs in the air long enough to feel successful. Then a soft ball, then a real one, and finally set up two shoes as a goal and shoot.
Quick parent note
Hold hands and kick together for the very first ones — your leg swings, their leg swings, the ball moves, the cheer is shared.
