Play Flashcard for Preschoolers
Play — the word the whole playground is built on. Arms wide, legs going, grin switched on: this card is the umbrella over every other card in the set.

What does this word mean?
Play means doing something for the fun of it — with your body, your voice, your imagination or a friend. Nobody has to play; that is exactly why it works.
How do you do it?
However the day allows. Ten minutes with two sticks is play. A made-up game in the queue at the shop is play. The card just gives the feeling a name.
Why it helps a preschooler
Play is how children rehearse everything — language, turns, rules, courage. A child deep in play is not taking a break from learning; that IS the learning, wearing its favourite shoes.
Say it together
“Play is what we do when nobody is telling us what to do — running, pretending, building, giggling, again again again!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Ask “what are we playing?” and then join the game by its own rules — if the floor is lava, your feet are in terrible danger. Follow the leader your child appoints.
Quick parent note
Boredom is play’s front door. Resist filling every empty minute — the best games start two minutes after “I have nothing to do-oo.”
