Cashier Worksheet for Ages 4–5
A community-helpers worksheet for ages 4–5: trace the word CASHIER, match the cashier to the basket, scanner and receipt, circle the store things, count the apples and draw something you would like to buy — on screen or on paper.
The full sheet, exactly as the artist drew it.
See the whole sheet, download the original file or print it from your browser. Want your child to solve it on screen first? The interactive version lives at preschool/4-years/community-helpers-and-our-neighborhood/worksheets/cashier/ / — same sheet, drawing layer included.

The five steps on the sheet.
- 1
Trace
Trace the dotted word CASHIER letter by letter — seven letters for the boss of the beep.
- 2
Match
Draw a line from the cashier to the basket, the scanner and the receipt.
- 3
Circle
Six things sit in the grid — circle every one you might buy at a store. Friendly news: every single one belongs!
- 4
Count
Count the apples, then write the number in the box.
- 5
Draw
Draw something you would like to buy in the big box — a toy, a snack, a gift for someone, anything on your wish list.
Before you start, have the words ready: The cashier rings up everything in the basket: the scanner beeps to read each price, the receipt is the shopping’s story on paper, and the basket carries it all to the belt. Apples, milk, books, teddy bears, bananas and crayons — a store holds a whole world.
What this worksheet teaches.
What a cashier does at the checkout, what the scanner and receipt do, and which things travel home from a store — plus how to write the word CASHIER.
The checkout is where numbers, money and patience meet, and this sheet lets your child own it from the safe side of the belt. This grid is the friendly kind — every picture belongs — which builds a child’s sorting confidence before trickier grids arrive.

Tips, questions and practice.
Say before you start: "This is a cashier — the helper who rings up everything we choose at the store. Trace the name, then connect the basket, the scanner and the receipt. Now the six pictures: which ones could we buy? Count the apples carefully, and then draw one thing YOU would love to buy someday."
Questions to ask: "What does the scanner beep for?" "What does the receipt tell us?" "Which of the six things would YOU put in the basket first?" "What does the cashier say when we pay?"
Parent tips: At the real checkout, hand over the sheet’s jobs: your child places the basket items on the belt, watches the scanner beep and holds the receipt. Money talk can wait — the sequence is the lesson.
Home practice: Play store tonight with the pantry and a shoebox till: your child is the cashier, you are the customer, and the receipt is scribbled on paper. Real script, real beeps, whole worksheet alive.
