Fork Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 3+Safe to use
The spiky tool with the green handle — the fork is the workhorse of every meal, and using it well is one of the quiet milestones of eating independently.

Say it together
“Fork! The pointy fork has four little teeth. Hold it in your fist… push it into the food… lift… and EAT! You did it with a fork!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Practise on the easiest wins first: banana coins, soft-cooked potato, melon cubes. Show the push-and-lift, then let the wobbly spearing happen — every skewered piece is a victory lap. Knife-and-fork teamwork comes later; today the fork does the whole show.
Quick parent note
Fork control is real fine-motor work: aim, push, lift, steady. It also moves a child from finger food to table food — a small step with a large side effect of pride. A child-size fork with a fat handle shortens the learning curve by months.
