Frying Pan Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 3+Hot — don’t touch
The black pan with the green handle — the frying pan makes the sizzle sound every kid knows: eggs, pancakes, bacon. And like everything on the stove, it is firmly in the hot, don’t-touch family.

Say it together
“Frying pan! Sizzle sizzle — the pan is cooking! The pan gets VERY hot, and the oil jumps. We never touch the frying pan — grown-ups only. You crack the eggs at the counter, and the pan does the sizzling.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Split the job: your child cracks and whisks the eggs at the counter (the real, proud-making work), while the grown-up works the hot pan. When the sizzle starts, run the safety call — "sizzling means step back!" — and let your child declare it. The sizzle becomes the sound of a rule working.
Quick parent note
The frying pan’s spitting oil makes it the most jump-worthy hot thing in the kitchen, so the rule is said early and often. Meanwhile the crack-an-egg job keeps little hands fully in the cooking — separation of hot and helpful is the whole trick of cooking with kids.
