Measuring Cup Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 4–5Safe to use
The clear jug with the lines on the side — the measuring cup counts the milk and the water for a recipe, and the lines on the side are numbers doing a job your child can see.

Say it together
“Measuring cup! The clear jug with the lines. Pour the milk in… stop at the line! The lines say how much. One cup of milk, exactly — that is measuring!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Set the jug on a level surface, crouch to eye level with the lines and pour slowly — milk creeping up to the line is surprisingly thrilling. Ask: "did we reach the line? A little more… STOP!" Then the measured milk goes into the real recipe. Numbers on a jug make the maths of baking visible and edible.
Quick parent note
Measuring is reading, maths and pouring control in one job — the clearest early-numbers practice outside a workbook, with a cake at the end. Eye-level reading of the line is a genuine science skill (parallax, taught later; understood now).
