Measuring Spoons Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 4–5Safe to use
The little spoons on a ring — the measuring spoons count the small things: a spoon of sugar, a pinch of salt, a spoon of vanilla. Small scoops, big difference in the recipe.

Say it together
“Measuring spoons! The little scoops on a ring — big, medium, small, tiny. One spoon of sugar… level it flat with a finger… in it goes. Small spoons, exact amounts!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Let your child be the spoon-keeper: find the size the recipe asks for, scoop, level it flat by dragging a finger across the top, tip it in. Leveling is the secret skill — heaped spoons and level spoons bake differently. Five little scoops later, the cake knows the difference.
Quick parent note
Measuring spoons teach precision at the smallest scale — and leveling a spoon is fine-motor control at its neatest. The ring of sizes also invites ordering biggest-to-smallest, a free sorting game hiding on a kitchen counter.
