Plate Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 3+Safe to use
The round cream plate with the green rim — the plate is where dinner lands, and the child who can set the table is not a guest at meals but part of the crew.

Say it together
“Plate! Here is your plate. One plate for you, one for me… set them on the table. The plate waits for the food. Yum!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Make plate-setting the child’s job: one plate per seat, handed out with ceremony — "Daddy’s plate… Grandma’s plate… YOUR plate." Counting the seats and matching the plates is early maths at dinner speed. Then the empty plate to the sink finishes the job.
Quick parent note
A named plate gives a child ownership of their own eating space — picky eaters often accept food on "their" plate that they reject off it. And carrying a plate to the sink is the easiest first chore in the whole house.
