Hockey Flashcard for Preschoolers

A bent stick, a puck that slides, and a goal to fill — hockey is the fastest team game on Earth, played on ice or on the street.

A sports flashcard titled Hockey: the word "hockey" over a hockey scene with sticks, a puck and a goal.

Say it together

“Hockey is pushing the puck with a stick — dribble, dribble, SHOOT! Into the goal it goes.”

Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.

Try this

A sponge or paper ball is the puck, a broom or pool noodle is the stick. Dribble it around chair-cones, then shoot between the sofa-legs. On the floor nobody falls, and the dribbling skill is the same one the big ice players drill.

Quick parent note

Keep the stick low and the puck slow: floor hockey builds the side-to-side stick work that transfers to field hockey, ice hockey and even golf swings later.
