Marathon Flashcard for Preschoolers
Forty-two kilometres, one step at a time — the marathon is the longest race of all, where the win is simply keeping going.

Say it together
“A marathon is a SUPER long running race — so long it takes all day! You do not rush; you keep stepping, one foot, other foot, all the way.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Play marathon around the house or the block: instead of speed, count laps together. Ten laps earns a water break and a medal drawing. The lesson of the marathon is pacing — slow and steady really does win.
Quick parent note
Four-year-olds are natural sprinters and terrible pacers, which is exactly why the marathon is a fun card: it teaches the opposite trick — steady beats speedy when the road is long.
