Gymnastics Flashcard for Preschoolers

Balance beams, big mats and bodies that make shapes — gymnastics is the sport of controlling exactly what your body does.

A sports flashcard titled Gymnastics: the word "gymnastics" over a gymnastics scene with a child balancing with arms out.

Say it together

“Gymnastics is balancing and rolling and making shapes with your body — arms out, one foot up… hold it, hold it… and ta-da!”

Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.

Try this

Balance on one foot like a flamingo for five slow counts, then do a log roll across the bed or a mat, then hold a "star shape" — arms and legs wide. Balance, roll, shape: a full gymnastics class in the living room.

Quick parent note

Balance is the quiet king of all sport skills — every other card on this wall borrows it. Gymnastics trains it on purpose, which is why gymnasts learn every other sport fast.
