Shoes Flashcard for Toddlers
Ages 1+Getting dressed
Blue sneakers with yellow laces — shoes mean OUTSIDE, which makes this one of the most exciting words in the toddler language: shoes on means adventure on.

Say it together
“Shoes! Where are your shoes? There they are! Foot in… foot in… Velcro — rip! Shoes on! Ready to go outside!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Sit the toddler down, present each shoe like a hat at a fancy ceremony — "one foot… other foot… rip the Velcro!" — and let them do the final rip. The Velcro job is the toddler’s contribution to getting dressed, and contributions cut dressing-time battles in half.
Quick parent note
The shoe word is powerful because it always predicts the same wonderful thing: going out. Naming it at the door daily builds the routine, and the foot-in-the-shoe game is the toddler’s first real dressing skill.
