Sippy Cup Flashcard for Toddlers
Ages 1+Mealtime
The blue cup with the green lid and two handles — the sippy cup is the bridge between bottle and open cup, and it belongs to the toddler in a way no bottle ever quite did.

Say it together
“Sippy cup! Here is YOUR cup. Two hands… lift… sip sip sip. Put it down. All done — good drinking!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Offer the cup at every meal with the same two-hand script, then park it in its spot when the meal ends — the cup has a home too. When the toddler masters two-hand sipping, the open-cup practice can begin with a thimble-sized splash, because the sippy cup did the heavy lifting first.
Quick parent note
Drinking from a cup is grip, coordination and swallowing control — a genuine skill with a genuine training arc. Naming the cup also marks ownership: MY cup, MY spot, MY job. Independence drinks from exactly this cup.
