Tower Crane, Crawler Crane, Rough-Terrain Crane & Truck Crane Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 4–5Construction
The crane family: the tower crane stands like a giant over the whole city block, the crawler crane rolls on treads and lifts the heaviest loads, the rough-terrain crane hops over mud and the truck-mounted crane drives itself to every small job.

Say it together
“Tower crane! Crawler crane! Rough-terrain crane! Truck crane! The tower crane is the TALLEST — it watches over the whole city! The crawler walks on treads and lifts the heaviest things. The rough-terrain crane climbs the mud, and the truck crane drives itself to little jobs. Lift, lift, lift!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Crane height sort: which one is tallest? (Tower crane — its top is often higher than the building it builds!) Then the balance game: hold a book at arm’s length — heavy, right? Cranes do that all day with a counterweight on the other side. Build a spoon crane: spoon arm, cup counterweight, lift a pom-pom load.
Quick parent note
Four cranes, four answers to one question — how do we lift the heaviest things into the sky? The tower crane is the skyline’s signature and the crawler crane is its strongest. Kids spot cranes from farther than any other machine: they are the flagpoles of construction.
