Crayons Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 2+Classroom object
The box of rainbow sticks — crayons are color a child can hold, and the box is usually the first color words a child ever uses out loud.

Say it together
“Crayons! Open the box. Red… blue… green… yellow! Which one today? Push the paper — look, COLOR! The crayon paints with your hand.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Pick three crayons and play color match: one scribble on paper, then hunt for one real thing in the room that color. Red scribble — find red! Three rounds is a full game, and it clears the table of every crayon but three.
Quick parent note
Naming colors comes after sorting them, so let matching lead and words follow. Broken crayons are fine — in fact small pieces push little hands toward the finger grip the pencil will need later.
