Use a Quiet Voice Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 3+Good habit
A boy with a finger to his lips — a quiet voice is the voice classrooms run on, and knowing when it is loud-time and when it is hush-time is a real skill.

Say it together
“Use a quiet voice! Finger on lips… shhh. Inside, we use our inside voice — soft and low. Outside? Loud voices, go! But right now we are inside… shhh… can you hear the quiet?”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Play the voice dial: outside voice on the balcony or in the yard, middle voice in the hall, whisper voice in the car. Name the voice before entering each place — "library voices now!" — and let your child show you the difference.
Quick parent note
Volume control is a real skill with a real dial, not a character trait. Giving each place its own voice name turns "be quiet" into a game the child can win.
