Walk Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 3+Good habit
A boy walking with steady steps — walking feet are for inside, where floors are hard, corners are sharp and running belongs outside.

Say it together
“Walk! Inside we walk — one foot, other foot, steady like this. Running feet? Those are for the garden and the park! Inside… walk, walk, walk. Safe and proud.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Practise the switch: at the door, "running feet ready… walking feet ON!" Then walk a straight line together, heel to toe, like tightrope explorers. Make the walking itself the fun part and the rule takes care of itself.
Quick parent note
Walking inside is not about slowing down fun — it is about the right place for it. Children who know exactly where running is allowed are far quicker to walk where it is not.
