Kitchen Timer Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 4–5Safe to use
The round dial with the numbers — the kitchen timer counts down the waiting, and the DING at the end is the best sound in baking: cookies are ready, the waiting is over.

Say it together
“Kitchen timer! Turn the dial to the number… tick, tick, tick… and — DING! The timer says when. Twelve minutes for the cookies — set the timer, and when it dings, the cookies are done!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Hand the dial job over: your child sets the timer for cookies, for a ten-minute tidy-up, for "five more minutes of playground at home" (a carpet picnic). Watching the dial shrink makes time visible — and the DING is a celebration every single time. The timer turns waiting into a countdown game with a bell.
Quick parent note
The timer is the most quietly useful card in the set: it teaches that waiting has an end, that numbers count something real and that transitions come with a bell. Families who let the child own the dial report fewer "is it ready YET?" — the timer says it first.
