Bookshelf Flashcard for Toddlers
Ages 2–3Around the room
The shelf where the books sleep between stories — the bookshelf is where a toddler learns that books have homes too, and that story time starts with choosing.

Say it together
“Bookshelf! The books live here, on the bookshelf. Pick a book… any book! Then it goes back on the shelf for its nap.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Make the shelf the toddler’s own library: one low shelf, a few books facing covers-out. Let the child choose tonight’s story from the shelf — choosing is half of reading — and end by walking the book "home" to the shelf together. Books that get put away with ceremony get pulled out with ceremony too.
Quick parent note
A forward-facing bookshelf at toddler height does more for early reading than any gadget: covers invite, spines hide. The word "bookshelf" also quietly teaches the tidy-up habit every room in the house will thank you for.
