Bottle Flashcard for Toddlers

Ages 1+Mealtime

The bottle is often a toddler’s very first food word — it means milk, comfort and the good feeling of a full tummy, all in one little word.

A toddler room flashcard titled bottle: the word "bottle" under a baby bottle with a yellow lid.

Say it together

“Bottle! The milk bottle. Yummy — time to drink. Hold the bottle… drink, drink. All gone!”

Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.

Try this

Offer the bottle and say the word each time — bottle before milk, every time. Then let the toddler feed a doll or teddy with an empty bottle: pretending to feed is how toddlers rehearse their own mealtimes, and rehearsing makes the real thing smoother.

Quick parent note

Naming the bottle at every feed builds the mealtime word bank early. Many families also use the card gently when the bottle is about to retire — "bottles are for littles; big kids use cups" — a story the child has already heard a hundred times, in card form.
