Laundry Basket Flashcard for Toddlers
Ages 2–3Around the room
The woven blue basket that holds the clothes — and, between washes, holds one giggling toddler. The laundry basket is a container word, and container words are toddler gold.

Say it together
“Laundry basket! Put the socks IN… the towels IN… everything in the basket. And where is [child’s name]? IN the basket! Peekaboo!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Play the carry game: the toddler fetches one garment from the floor and drops it in the basket — "socks IN! thank you!" — one piece at a time. Then flip the game and let them climb in for a two-second peekaboo. In, out, in. The tidy-up is real and the toddler never notices.
Quick parent note
In-and-out is THE container schema toddlers are driven to explore, so this card meets them where they already are. The one-garment-at-a-time fetch is a genuine chore seed — the two-year-old version of laundry day.
