Stacking Rings Flashcard for Toddlers
Ages 2–3Play time
The rainbow stacker on its yellow post — stacking rings look like a toy and behave like a lesson: biggest at the bottom, smallest on top, and the order is the whole game.

Say it together
“Stacking rings! The big ring first — WHOOSH, down the pole. Then the next… and the next… and the teeny tiny one on top. All done! Rainbow tower!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Hand out the rings and let the toddler discover the size rule by trial — the big ring simply will not sit on top, and the toy itself teaches sorting by size with no words needed. Then line the rings up on the floor biggest-to-smallest like a rainbow snake. Same skill, different shape.
Quick parent note
Ordering by size is a first maths skill and the stacker is its friendliest teacher. The toy also rewards the fail-again courage: a wrong ring can’t be forced, only rethought — which is early-years problem-solving in one wooden post.
