Table and Chair Flashcard for Toddlers
Ages 2–3Around the room
The small yellow table with its green and red chair — the table and chair are the toddler’s workstation, child-sized on purpose so little legs can sit flat and little arms can work.

Say it together
“Table and chair! Sit on the chair… scoot in… this is your table. Puzzle on the table, crayons on the table — all done? Tidy the table!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Do one activity at the table, then practise the finish: pieces back in the box, crayons in the tub, push the chair in. The push-in is the toddler’s signature on a finished job. A child-sized table also fixes posture and reach — sitting flat makes every activity easier.
Quick parent note
"Scoot in, push the chair in" is Montessori’s oldest move and it still works: a defined workspace with a defined finish teaches activity boundaries better than any instruction. The chair also becomes the reading chair, the snack chair and the watch-the-grown-up chair — furniture with a job.
