Drilling Rig, Pile Driver, Telehandler & Boom Lift Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 4–5Construction
The deep-and-high crew: the drilling rig bores holes into the ground, the pile driver hammers giant nails into the earth, the telehandler reaches out AND up with its telescope arm and the boom lift carries workers in a basket to the sky.

Say it together
“Drilling rig! Pile driver! Telehandler! Boom lift! The rig drills down, down, DOWN into the ground. The pile driver goes BAM, BAM — giant hammer! The telehandler stretches its arm like a telescope — out and UP! And the boom lift lifts people in a basket, higher than the trees!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Reach game: how high can YOUR telehandler reach? Stack, stretch, stand on tiptoe (safely!) — then compare with the machine: its "tiptoes" reach six houses high. And the BAM question: why hammer giant nails into the ground? Because tall buildings need strong grips on the earth.
Quick parent note
This card is about direction: down (drill, pile) and up (telehandler, boom lift). Foundations are invisible once built, so the pile driver’s hammering is one of the few construction acts kids actually get to hear — BAM, BAM — a percussion section for the whole street.
