Wheel Loader, Backhoe, Grader & Skid-Steer Flashcard for Preschoolers

Ages 4–5Construction

The scoop squad: the wheel loader swallows a heap of gravel in one bite, the backhoe carries a digger on its back, the motor grader scrapes the ground flat as a pancake and the little skid-steer spins on the spot.

A transportation flashcard headed Construction Vehicles: a wheel loader, a backhoe loader, a motor grader and a skid-steer loader, each labeled.

Say it together

“Wheel loader! Backhoe! Grader! Skid-steer! The loader scoops — CHOMP — a big bite of dirt! The backhoe digs with its back arm. The grader shaves the ground smooth, and the skid-steer — the little one! — turns on one spot like a dancer.”

Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.

Try this

Scoop relay: move "gravel" (pom-poms) with a toy scoop or a dustpan-loader from pile to bucket — loader style, big bites. Then the spin test: hop on one foot and turn in a circle — a skid-steer pivot! Four machines, one skill: the perfect scoop.

Quick parent note

All four machines exist for the same verb — move material — which makes this the set’s cleanest compare-and-contrast card. The skid-steer is the crowd favorite: tiny, fast, and able to pirouette in place, the ballet dancer of the building site.
