Boat, Ship, Sailboat & Submarine Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 3+Water
The floating four: the little boat for the lake, the giant ship for the ocean, the sailboat that runs on wind and the submarine that dives UNDER the water and vanishes.

Say it together
“Boat! Ship! Sailboat! Submarine! The boat floats on top, the ship carries the cargo, the sailboat catches the wind — whoosh — and the submarine goes DOWN, down, under the sea! Glub glub glub.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Float-and-sink lab in the bath: which toys float like the boat, which sink like the submarine? Then the wind test: blow a paper sailboat across the water — wind power, just like the sailboat. And the submarine dive: duck the toy under, periscope up!
Quick parent note
Water vehicles move on a different highway — no roads, no rails, just waves. The submarine is the set’s only vehicle that hides, which makes it the favorite by a nautical mile. Float-or-sink is also the first science experiment most children ever run, right in the tub.
