Mug Flashcard for Preschoolers
Ages 3+Safe to use
The big cream cup with the handle — the mug is the grown-up cup, and being trusted with a real mug of warm cocoa is one of childhood’s great promotions.

Say it together
“Mug! The big cup with a handle. Two hands around the mug… careful… sip. Mugs are for warm drinks — cocoa, warm milk. Yum, just like the grown-ups!”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Serve a child-size mug of warm (never hot) cocoa and teach the carry: two hands, walk slowly, set it down before you sip. The handle grip and the walking-with-liquid control are genuine skills — and being allowed a real mug tastes better than any drink.
Quick parent note
The mug card carries a built-in safety line: mugs are for WARM drinks, and grown-ups pour. The two-hand carry rule also transfers to every cup, jug and bowl the child will ever move — spill physics, learned early and gently.
