Floor Cushion Flashcard for Toddlers
Ages 2–3Around the room
A round blue cushion on the floor — the floor cushion is a toddler-sized spot that belongs to the toddler: a place to sit, flop, look at books and take a breath.

Say it together
“Floor cushion! This is YOUR soft spot. Sit on the cushion… flop! Read a book on the cushion. It is so cozy.”
Say it naturally, then wait. Whatever comes back — the word, the sound, a point, a giggle — is the right answer.
Try this
Park the cushion in the book corner and let it mean something: books get read HERE, cuddles happen HERE. Try the flop game — stand tall, wobble, FLOP onto the cushion with a big sigh, "aaaaah." Toddlers repeat a game with a sigh in it forever.
Quick parent note
A defined personal spot is quiet psychology: it gives a big-feeling toddler somewhere to retreat with dignity. The cushion also answers the toddler question "where do I fit?" with three inches of foam and a whole lot of belonging.
